The Science behind LUMI

Red Light

The power player in the series. Red lights penetrates the skin the most as it helps to increase adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in your cells. That's where your skin cells get their power. The red light relieves cellular stress on a microbiological level. With the new ATP that your mitochondria will make, your skin cells will naturally rebuild itself, dump toxic waste, and rejuvenate.

The National Library of Medicine has found that "treated subjects experienced significantly improved skin complexion and skin feeling, profilometrically assessed skin roughness, and ultrasonographically measured collagen density. The blinded clinical evaluation of photographs confirmed significant improvement in the intervention groups compared with the control."

White Light

Bright white light is used to treat symptoms of Season Affective Disorder (S.A.D.). This is a type of depression induced by regular low and dark lights, especially during the winter. When people get little exposure to the sun, they begin to feel sad, fatigued, their appetite might change, sleep may be affected, and they may have a general loss of interest in activities.

A PubMed study has found that yellow light also reduces the damage caused by photoaging, oxidative stress, has the ability to restore collagen formation, and regulate inflammatory responses.
